Automated
Transaction Manager (ATMgr) 3.0 - For Windows 95/98/NT
-Gary
Leven
Do you want player trades and transactions to occur automatically
in your Baseball for Windows replay? How about that roster move
you don’t want to miss? Well with ATMgr you can have it.
NEW FOR 2000! Last year, ATMgr let you load the
lineups. This year Gary has added the ability for ATMgr to verify
the lineups!
The 1997, 1998 and 1999 season transaction file also comes with
their lineup files. A few other minor fixes have been made as
well. This program was created for the replayer so that actual
transactions for a season could be entered into a file before
(or during) a BBW season. This process will save on the time
it takes to manually make trades, call ups, etc. Once entered
all you have to do is select Daily Roster from the menu and
the program does the rest. Before you try running ATMgr please
read the rest of the Overview and the other sections that follow
for full details on each function. You may use any method to
run your replay although you must be using some version of League
Manager. You may use a program such as APlus, Auto Substitution
in League Manager or manually enter lineups before each game.
The ideal situation for a season replay would be to:
1.
Create a schedule, set Schedule and AIM Rules, set Rules
for Leagues and set Managers through
League Manager
2. Create a transaction file through ATMgr making sure
you Verify Transactions
3. Set Exclude, Include, etc. through APlus or make sure
AutoSubstitution is set through League Manager
4. Select Daily Roster from the ATMgr menu for Opening
Day
5. Generate Lineups through APlus and set vs. LHP/RHP
through League Manager (see APlus help
files)
6. Play games for 1 day through League Manager
7. Select Daily Roster through ATMgr
8. Repeat steps 6 & 7 until the season is over. You may
even access League Manager and APlus through
ATMgr which is detailed below. One warning: ATMgr will
allow you to make updates to the
transaction file throughout the season. If you do this then
it is your responsibility to Verify
Transactions to ensure that errors will not come up later in
the season.
Installation
After downloading the ATMgr file, double click the file from
Windows Explorer (remember what directory you downloaded the
file to). When you double click the atmgr file, it will begin
the self extraction and setup of the program. It is recommended
that close all other applications (other than Windows Explorer)
before starting the installation.
The
installation program will extract the files to a directory called
C:\atmgr95. This drive and path setting can be changed to anything
you'd like, and the installation routine will create the new
directory if it doesn't exist. NOTE: Since these files are a
complete set of installation files, it is recommended that you
put them into a new directory by themselves. Once the files
are extracted, the setup routine runs automatically. You can
stop the installation and run it later. To run it later, Click
Start, Run and type c:\atmgr\setup (or whatever drive and directory
you extracted the files to).
Once
the program has been installed you start the program by clicking,
Start, Programs and find the ATMgr item on the program menu.
It may be near the bottom of the list.
If
you wish to delete ATMgr you may do so through the Windows Control
Panel by running Add/Remove Programs and selecting ATMgr. Available
are transactions for many season (see above). Each season has
3 files called AnnTran.Dat, AnnNote.Dat and AnnTran.ATM which
should be placed in the ORGanization directory (ie. C:\BBW\1996.WDD\ORG00001).
[Note some of the season also contain a file called AnnTran.Luf
- which is a Lineup File.] AnnTran.Dat and AnnNote.Dat are set
up for the default season disk which is available each year.
If you are using an organization created from BJE, Wizard or
was created in a different manner than the default organization
then you should delete AnnTran.Dat and AnnNote.Dat and create
new ones by using AnnTran.ATM and selecting Import from the
menu (see below). The reason is that record numbers will not
match up from one organization to the next so ATMgr will attempt
to match up most of them, but you will have to do the rest.
If
you have any questions or suggestions send an e-mail to Gary
Leven.
The
Atmgr.txt file contains more information about running the program
and will be found in the program installation directory (default
C:\atmgr95).
