APBA Coaches' Quotes

APBA players know there's something magical about the bond they have with the game and each other. It's a family feeling. After all, it's not often that a company or a game survives 50 years with its basic formula intact. Thanks to the loyal support of its players, APBA games have become the most recognizable sports games of the 20th century.

While we'll never stop being proud of our heritage, we also realize it's time to move APBA into the 21st century. That's why, for the first time, you can now find APBA games in trading-card and gaming stores throughout North America and the Hawaiian Islands. There is no better way to spread the passion for APBA than to have APBA players teach and demonstrate the games to the hobby stores' personnel and customers.

APBA is fortunate to have such loyal and passionate ambassadors for the game.

Comments from an APBA Coach about his training sessions in Hobby Stores:

Roy Langhans from Maryland

"I had a great visit with the Cool Stuff folks (in Pennsylvania) on Saturday. I was there about 70 minutes and had the full attention of one of the owners for virtually the entire time. I was able to explain the games and answer most of Tom's questions. They took to the APBA Games very readily. They also told me that one customer had already been into their store asking if the new 2001 APBA Games were available yet. Looks like the word is getting out. Overall, it was a very pleasant and productive visit. They were setting up an APBA display as I departed. In the display, they used one of the APBA t-shirts I left them."

"I had a very enjoyable visit today with Eddie Lewis and his wife, who own and operate the Collectors Zone in Baltimore. I was there about 50 minutes and again was fortunate to have their attention for the entire time. The APBA games were prominently displayed directly in front of the checkout counter. They had sold a few games so far, but were very receptive to a more thorough understanding of what they were selling. They even have received a telephone call from someone in Virginia asking if they had a computer version of the baseball game. Sounds like the word is getting out. That's about it. I enjoy talking to folks like this, and they seem to enjoy the fact that they are not talking to a salesman. If I can help out any more in Maryland, Delaware, southeastern Pennsylvania, northern Virginia, etc., please let me know."

Mike Greig from Vermont
"I love the APBA Game. It's awesome! I am looking to start a new APBA Football League and this would be a great way for me to drum up interest and get members."

Ron Jones of Ohio
"I am responding to your message stating the need for APBA Coaches. I have played APBA since 1968 and still love to roll the dice. Let me know how I can help."

Dennis Timberman from Connecticut
"Yes, interested in helping out. Sounds like a lot of fun. I've got eight managers in my APBA League who would be more than happy to help Hobby stores explain and teach the APBA games. We wouldn't mind traveling up to 100 miles."

Jerry Conca from California
"That sounds like a blast! Teaching new players how to play APBA. How do I sign up?"

Bob Woodward for New Jersey
"I have played in an APBA League for 20 years with 15 other guys. I would love to be an ambassador for APBA. My son, who will be turning 13 in February, also knows the game inside and out."

Jim Smedley for Kentucky
"I love the APBA Game. I'd be glad to help any way I can."

Bob from Pennsylvania
"I have been an APBA Game player for 10 years. We have a 12-team league and I'd be interested in showing how the game works and so would a couple of other guys in our league."

Ed Farmer
I would be very interested in helping you spread APBA by showing others how much fun it can be."

Marc Lichtenfeld for California
"I have played APBA for 25 years. And I would be interested in helping APBA's efforts."

Warren Carlson from Illinois
"If you would like, I could help teach store personnel and future customers the great APBA Game they have."

Bernie Gatti from Ohio
"Hello and thanks for contacting me about the wonderful offer to demonstrate APBA Games. I have been an avid APBA fan. The baseball and football games are by far the best on the market."

Frank Frey from Florida
"Yeah!!!! YER BACK...YER BACK...!!!!!!!!! I cannot tell you how good it is to see that the APBA Football board game is back in production. I love your football board game.... I would be more than happy to teach and demo your football game to any and all who show an interest. I am a founding member of the gaming club here at the University of South Florida and am also a member of several other gaming groups here in the Bay Area."

Dave Adams from South Carolina
"Sure, sign me up! I have extensive knowledge of the APBA games, and have been playing for a good 15 years. If I can do anything to turn more folks on to this passion, I'll do whatever I can. I live just outside the capitol of South Carolina, in West Columbia. I saw you had someone in the upstate, I'd be more than happy to spread the word in the Capitol City! I think it would be a good idea to try to get some of these places to hold weekend tournaments, or possibly promote some face-to-face league play. Have you thought about marketing to card shops? We have a ton of those around here as well. Hey, count me in, and let me know what I can do to help."

Chris C.
"Are you kidding me? This sounds too good to be true. If you let me know that someone is interested, I will do everything in my power to get them to play or sell the game. I would love to play some face to face Football and Baseball games. I have been playing solo since 1989. I have also played over the internet and run my own Football league. Let's try to get more Football players. I am APBA-for-Life!"

Chris Crapps from South Carolina
"This really sounds great. I would be honored to get more people involved in APBA."
