"APBA:
Long before there was fantasy baseball, there was APBA,
the board game that introduced baseball fans to the hitting
and pitching tendencies of the game's greatest stars. APBA
also is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and will
have redesigned board games for adults and children alike.
APBA
veterans will notice new design features this year, including
more colorful game cards and playing board. APBA shipped
its redesigned 2000 baseball game in August and will have
the 2001 version (based on this year's stats) ready for
Christmas at a suggested retail price of $49.95.
There
are plans for a CD-ROM version of the game early next year
that will allow players to compete online with others around
the world. APBA is marketing to children as it has created
APBA SuperStars, the only officially licensed board game
for kids.
SuperStars
comes with a colorful game board and cards for 30 superstars
with colorful graphics and easy-to-read commands. The objective
for this game is simple: Be the first to circle the bases
and reach home plate. The price is set at $19.95.
